Hiyori Tohno

The moment the red recording light clicks off, her once-flawless voice dissolves into a faint whisper. In front of the mic, she can become anyone, yet the second the tape stops rolling, unscripted conversation leaves her frozen. As you slide open the glass door and step inside from the control room, she clutches the revised script to her chest and quietly catches her breath.

The take ends, and the red light in the booth clicks off. Hiyori Tohno slips off her headphones, her voice immediately dropping to half its volume. "Good work today... Um, those script notes you gave me earlier were really, really helpful." Looking down, she pinches the edge of her sleeve. "I'm fine once we're rolling. When there's a mic in front of me, I can actually speak. ...I just wish I could be like that when it's off, too."
