AI roleplay with video lets a character answer aloud while you see an avatar speaking. On Prelulu, you can start a story in text and continue with a supported character on a voice or video call. Saved relationship details and recent chat context can help it carry over, but neither a moving avatar nor persistent memory guarantees perfect recall.
Start with the story you want to continue
For a first call, choose a small scene you can describe in a sentence. For example: “We are meeting again after an argument; ask me why I came back.” This is a fictional starting prompt, not a transcript or a tested outcome. A clear setup makes it easier for you to notice whether the next reply fits the scene.
Choose a character from the current catalog and try the setup in text. Decide whether the writing and voice suit the scene before paying for a longer call. Roleplay can be playful, romantic or simply an imagined conversation; you do not need to use every available feature.
What changes when you switch from text to a call
| Format | What changes | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Text | You write and read the scene at your own pace. | Whether the character follows the setup and remembers a detail. |
| Voice | You hear spoken replies and can speak instead of typing. | Microphone permission, call allowance and spoken pacing. |
| Video | You also see the character speaking. | Video availability, lip-sync during the current reply and video credit usage. |
Prelulu video calls apply live lip-sync to the current spoken reply. Prepared motion clips supply poses and gestures, so movements can repeat. Response time varies with connection and service load. We do not have a comparative latency benchmark to claim that this is faster than another app.
Carry the important details into the call
Saved relationship details and recent chat context can be supplied to a Prelulu call. This is different from replaying a full conversation history. If the scene depends on a particular promise, place or event, mention it at the start rather than assuming every earlier line has been retained.
For example: “We are still at the station, and you have not opened the letter.” That is a suggested prompt you can adapt. If the character misses the detail, correct it and see whether the next reply follows. Read how memory works for the distinction between saved details and complete recall.
Seeing the character and sharing your camera are separate
You can see and hear a Prelulu character while keeping your camera off. Where camera sharing is available, it requires your permission and explicit activation. A character should not be assumed to see your face, clothing or surroundings unless you have enabled a supported camera-sharing feature.
Other apps can combine these capabilities too. Kindroid documents live avatar calls and camera sharing as distinct controls, checked September 19, 2026. Its use of an avatar photo as a visual reference does not make the resulting live call a static image. Compare the controls you can actually use.
Check the cost before extending the scene
Prelulu text chat is free forever. The first-call gift for eligible accounts and the daily free voice minute are separate offers. The daily voice minute is not a daily free video allowance. Check your balance and the current plans and credit rates before choosing video or extending a call.
Compare subscriptions using the billing period, included call allowance, selected mode and additional credit cost. Do not compare an undated app-store purchase entry with a monthly web subscription as though they were the same offer. Return to text when it better fits your pace or budget.
A short first-call checklist
- Choose a character with calling available and try your scene in text.
- Check your credits, select voice or video, and grant microphone access when requested.
- Keep your camera off unless you want to use an available camera-sharing feature.
- State the scene and one detail that matters, then ask a follow-up.
- Decide whether the writing, spoken timing and visual presentation add to your story before extending the call.
