No. The official listing qualifies that offer as available only using the Basic Model in Character Mode. Do not extend it to every model or story mode; check the selected mode's current terms before continuing.

Not necessarily. OOC's release notes say branching is free while messages still cost Credits. Creating a different story path and paying for the messages inside it are separate decisions.
